A Rose is a Rose is a Rose

As some of you probably already know, this week is Secretaries' Week, or if you prefer to be P.C., Administrative Assistants' Week.

Back in the day, the boss would buy flowers or chocolates for all the administrative assistants (let's just call them ADASSes for short), or if the ADASS had been particularly useful and/or decorative that year, flowers and chocolates.

Now I may have mentioned a time or two (insert sarcastic symbol here) that my office is populated with folks who definitely qualify as "special".

One of these we'll just call Lil Miss Bijou for the sake of anonymity--as the name suggests, the brightest jewel in her boss's crown, to hear him talk. This most fortunate person received the ultimate ADASS gift--roses!

Now I have nothing against roses (they've never done anything to me), nor do my co-workers. But here's the rub--only this person was lucky enough to receive flowers. Not the other ADASSes, not the lowly peons in accounting, not the receptionist.

The Diva took this quite personally; very pointed remarks were flung around, loudly enough that the snoopy neighbour next door (more about him later) probably heard. But the Diva is smart as well, so she came up with the perfect revenge...
During her break, she ran out to the florist and purchased enough long-stemmed roses to give each woman several.

So here we are, with flowers not given to us by our bosses, in odd assorted containers--cola cans, water bottles, and a vase or two.

Do you think the bosses (all of the male persuasion by the way) may notice? I certainly hope so!
